Surprise Announcement
After only just recently making the announcement that he would headline the upcoming Magic the Gathering Universes Beyond product focusing on properties from DC Comics, Henry Cavill confirms this project has been canceled.
This announcement comes shortly after director Michael Bay (previous director of Hasbro’s success Transformers film franchise) and Jon Hoeber (one half of the writing team behind 2012’s Battleship film adaptation) were tapped to take creative leadership over the Magic: the Gathering brand in an effort to revitalize it.
When asked why the decision was made to cancel the project, a representative from Wizard’s of the Coast was quoted as saying, “While we respect their longevity and impact in the world of comics, we’re hoping that by turning our attention to fresh, exciting brands like Valiant Comics and their pantheon of heroes including Turok, Dinosaur Hunter, X-O Manowar, Shadowman, Ninjak, and, of course, Bloodshot, who was recently the focus of his own film franchise starring Vin Disel”.
Insiders close to Cavill believe that this change won’t affect the star and will “give him ample time to continue working on his next 2000pts of Adeptus Custodes in preparation for his upcoming role as The Emperor of Mankind in Apple TV’s adaptation of the Horus Heresy.”
